Deadlines & how it works
Can I appeal my Cook County property taxes every year?
Yes. You can appeal every year, not only in the triennial year your township is reassessed. Cook reassesses each township once every three years, but the Assessor and the Board of Review both open annually, so you can file in any year your assessment is too high.
The reassessment year is the most important one to check, because a new over-assessment can lock in for three years if you do not challenge it. An appeal in an off-year is equally valid and equally free.
