Cook County offers several exemptions that lower your tax bill — the Homeowner exemption for owner-occupants, plus Senior, Senior Freeze, Persons with Disabilities, Veterans, and Home Improvement exemptions for those who qualify. Eligibility and application run through the Cook County Assessor, separately from an appeal.
