What happens after I file with the Board of Review?

The Board of Review reviews your evidence, may request a hearing, and issues a written decision after your township’s window closes. A reduction lowers the assessed value used for your next tax bill. If the Board denies you or you still disagree, you can appeal further to the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board (PTAB) or file in the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Decisions are not instant — the Board works through a township’s appeals after it closes, so expect weeks to months. Any reduction flows through to a later tax bill, and you keep the full savings.
